One of my cats is watching me as I try to decide how and what to write today. My cat just came in from the balcony, It is really cold today as we got rain and the cold weather. She likes to stay in the balcony but doesn't like cold that much.
My cats don't like change either; just like most of us! I don't know if I am upto the challenges that the change would bring, in the coming days as I know I am going to be loosing my job. What to do, where to go? Now it is a good time to pick another part of the world to live in but my cats don't like moving/traveling and change for that matter!
I know there are lots of troubled people out there, I am just living in my little troubled world!

Life seem to take away things from you that you love or depend the most. People say it is because it wants to make room for new and better things. I hope they are right. Just found out that I am being laid off!

Food and Culture

A new friend of my encouraged me today to write more on my blog as I seem to have a lot of opinions about  cultural differences and food as we ate our 4th of July meal of grilled steak & side dishes.

I was telling her no matter how open-minded that we say we are, we all have our reservations about 'other cultures' food'! 

Long time, no blog.

year has been passing by fast and furious.

But a new friend of mine encouraged me to write more on my blog as I seem to have a lot to share about cultural differences and food as we ate our 4th of July day barbecue.

Culture is made up of lot of different things such as language, religion, customs & traditions etc. But I don't think we include the food in this list as much as we should. As I traveled different countries, I realized how closed minded I was in trying 'different' food.  (Different for whom?) Once I tried few times though, I started to appreciate and develop taste for other culture's food which enriched my life a lot; Although I admit, it is not easy to make oneself to try food that one is not familiar with. 

Have you ever looked at a menu in a different cuisine and although it was in your language, you felt like you have no idea what food they are offering! I have!  And it is part of the fun and excitement! 

I recommend that this year you try some different food. Go ahead, don't be afraid! It is fun and who knows you may like it. It may also open the doors for a new friendships...

Will continue on this different cuisine discussion on another day as I feel I have lots to say!

I hope that I can keep up the same positive and 'can do' attitude through out the year! I know I will have trying days and weeks but hope for the strength to get it through them!
